Tonight Alive

Tonight Alive
There are few things we like more that bands with girl singers, so when we found out about Tonight Alive it felt like Christmas and Easter rolled into one.
With their debut album set to be released this summer on Sony, Tonight Alive are one of the most refreshing bands we’ve heard in a long time. The lyrics are meaningful but catchy and are combined with beautiful melodies that’ll leave you with a sense of nostalgia.
Singer Jenna McDougall’s vocals are of a style all their own especially with her little Australian twang, which definitely helps in setting them apart from other bands of the genre.
These guys are definitely ones to watch for this year and in the years to come. However I’m (Laura) totally in love with them already.

REVIEW - I See Stars - The End Of The World Party

I See Stars - The End Of The World Party
I See Stars do it again. Two years after releasing their first album 3D, the guys have released what i would say is one of the best albums of 2011 so far.
Listening to this album you can’t help but tell the guys have moved farther away from their hardcore roots and gone more of an electronic/pop sound which i am not complaining about as it works extremely well.
Devins vocals have definitely improved on this album that there is no denying that these guys are extremely talented and know exactly how to make good music!
I’m sure fans Of I See Stars will be comparing this album to 3D but what everyone needs to remember is that you don’t want a bands albums to sound exactly the same as you will get bored. These guys are experimenting and they have come out with and album that i think is pure genious!
well done guys!

Hopes High - Move Stop Wait
I had never heard of this band until one day they messaged us on twitter. I checked them out instantly and wow. These guys are very appealing to the ear…and not too bad on the eye either ;)
This is their first single of their new EP out this year. This song definitely does not disappoint. With Catchy up lifting beats from start to finish, this is a song that you will be singing and bopping your head for days.
These guys definietly know how to deliver good songs with awesome lyrics and if this song is anything to go by then their EP is going to be badass and us at GATRS cannot wait to hear it.

Interview with Jak from Brooke

(we do not own copyright to this picture)
We have been good friends with the guys in Brooke for a while now and Jak was nice enough to let us interview him
You play bass in a band called Brooke…where did you guys get your name?To be honest, Alex rang me and just said it to me and I like it straight away! :)
You were in a band called Winch House which broke up but then Brooke formed with the same members and one added member. What was the reason behind this?
We were at that point in our music where we just wanted to be more mature about it and then that’s when we formed Brooke.
You played Slam Dunk Festival in 2009 on the same stage as the likes of Cobra Starship, Hey Monday and You Me At Six. How was that for you?
Absolutley out of this world.
What is your fondest memory of touring?
I don’t have one, ever day is a fond memory and I wouldn’t go back and change anything!
What is the best thing about being in a band?
You probably get the same answer all the time but its meeting new people and making new friends…. like you guys :P
What is the bands writing process like?
Very very quick, Alex will have a structure of a song and then we’ll all add our own ideas in which I think works really well!
Can we expect any new material from Brooke anytime soon?
Yes, yes you can and you’ll love it.
Some fun questions now…
What is your pet peeve?
I don’t really have one to be honest lol, probably how aggy I get on the road, Alex will back that up haha1
When you listen to songs do you find it hard to not sing your name at the beginning, like Jason Derulo?
haha only a few songs..
Who in the world would you most like to follow you on twitter?
Probably Derren Brown, because he’s just amazing!
What is your favourite song?
At the moment, its Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag haha!
If you had a dinner party and could invite 5 band members, who would you invite?
JAGK (ATL) Derrick (Mayday) Hayley Williams (Paramore) Tay Jardine (WATIC) Michael Jackson…..
What band/singer is your guilty pleasure?
Steel Panther…
We suggest that you guys go check out Brooke if they are playing any shows near you. They are really talented and a great bunch of guys!
REVIEW - Living In Hiding

Living In Hiding
I had never heard of this band until yesterday when someone sent me the video for their new single “This is who i am”. I am pretty glad i didn’t pass on checking them out.
Living in Hiding are an up coming female fronted rock band from Scotland that has hit the mark with their music.
My first opinion of this band when i checked them out were “Not another female fronted band” but this band are different from the others! Singer, Robyns perfectly imperfect voice hits those notes with such appeal and blends nicely with the music. These guys know what they are doing and they are flawless.
This song is amazing and has such an amazing video to go with it that i was in total awe when watching. This is a band to definitely keep an eye out for the future as i can see good things.

REVIEW - School Boy Humor - Show Me

(we do not own copyright to this picture)
School Boy Humor - Show Me (Remix) *Featuring Savannah Outen*
I heard about this band back in 2007 when there were 5 members. Now 3 members have left, leaving brothers Anthony and Phil Evans to carry on as a duo.
Show Me is the first single from the boys since parting ways with the other members and believe me, this song proves that these guys are going somewhere.
When i first took a listen to this song, i thought it had a bit of a Cobra Starship taste to it but that is definitely not a bad thing. After the vocals really kick in, the song really comes into it’s own and shows that these guys are extremely talented.
This is the kinda of song you wont be able to get out of your head for weeks. After listening to this song just once i was singing the chorus as if i had listened to it a hundred times.
I can’t wait to hear more songs from these guys! I can definitely see amazing things happening for them and they have the support from GATRS all the way!!!
